for everyone
My pics of Halloween Fairy, by Nora Corbett, designed for the September 2008 issue of Cross-Stitch & Needlework Magazine.

I really love your new theme on Multiply! So is this a fairy that you are stitching?
rifestitch wrote on Sep 19, '08
Yep - I'm stitching a fairy - normally I avoid designs with people or people-like things, but this one just really, really grabbed me - and it's Halloween themed. I'll put the floss toss in here over the weekend, tehn the first update probably on Monday - when I hope to be about 1/2 done :)
clonnen wrote on Sep 19, '08
I cqan not wait to see how it turns out! :-)
ajt0516 wrote on Sep 21, '08
Karen, I really like your new page theme - very nice!
ndmurdock wrote on Sep 22, '08
Wow, you really went to town on her! I still have the material laid out, but no actualy x's in it yet. So far have you subbed out any colors other than the bs'ing???
rifestitch wrote on Sep 22, '08

Nope, just that purple on the gloves....
trishf2382 wrote on Sep 22, '08
Another great project!! Frankly, I don't know how you manage it all!! Cheers
heypaula wrote on Sep 22, '08
She's beautiful, congrats!
clearstar wrote on Sep 22, '08
Karen, she's a beauty...love the bead detail at the neckline and the snooty expression has worked out so well.
stitchingqueen wrote on Sep 22, '08
Wow, Karen! She looks fabulous!!! I do love the fabric you are stitching her on. You've made some really excellent progress!!!!!
gothtigger wrote on Sep 22, '08
Every week you astound me with your progress! this is gorgeous *and* you got some of the beading done too!
fireinthelab wrote on Sep 22, '08
She looks awesome Karen, and ummm WELCOME TO FAIRY LAND!
jorja89 wrote on Sep 22, '08
Looks great! It's one fairy that appeals to me, must be the owl on the arm!
bronxchick55 wrote on Sep 22, '08
Oh my she is so pretty.
landislb wrote on Sep 22, '08
Lovely start, Karen! I just love this pattern. Don't know why since I haven't been tempted with the others in the series but this one is just wonderful!
rifestitch wrote on Sep 23, '08
ummm WELCOME TO FAIRY LAND!
Yeah, ummm yourself - I blame you!!! In a good way, of course :)
ndmurdock wrote on Sep 23, '08
And ummmmmm, I started mine last night. I have a nice brown blob now.
dusty4347 wrote on Sep 23, '08
I like this one. You are making great progress so far. Your needles must be smoking with all the stitching that you accomplish.
mdgtjulie wrote on Sep 24, '08
Looks great so far Karen. Keep up the good work!!

She's beautiful Karen - I love your fabric!
xstitchnmama wrote on Oct 2, '08
I realllllly want to do this piece where do I find the pattern???
Please!!!!!
rifestitch wrote on Oct 2, '08
Frishawn, this is in the September issue of Cross Stitch & Needlework magazine - most stores are out of it, but you should be able to get it online still - from them or Amazon, I bet. That pillow came out of there, too :) Best magazine, single issue, I've ever seen :)
heypaula wrote on Oct 6, '08
Pretty! Did you start with a full spool of the Garnet? (Just wondering if I should order two off the bat)
rifestitch wrote on Oct 6, '08
Yeah, brand new - but you're supposed to use 2 strands, which I thought was a lot, but then without, it looks too light. I've never used up an entire spool of Kreinik anything before...
stitchingqueen wrote on Oct 6, '08
Excellent progress Karen! This looks wonderful!
gothtigger wrote on Oct 6, '08
OK - colour me stupid - but where is the braid used?
rifestitch wrote on Oct 6, '08
Trick or Treat is spelled out entirely in braid - it's a Vintage color, so not as sparkly as that blue used in her headband and the really ligth blue int eh moon (previous picture). You have to turn it this way & that to get the tiniest glints - but it really is a neat effect in person :)
natmikesell wrote on Oct 6, '08
I love this fairy on that fabric!!!
gothtigger wrote on Oct 6, '08

{Mel checks the close up of the picture again} Oh I see now .....

Thanks - and I'll await your response to Paula :) I now have this mag winging its way to me so I might have to join in the madness in a little while .... maybe over Christmas - just to throw out the marketing gurus :)
rifestitch wrote on Oct 6, '08
Well, if I'm the only one who runs out of that Garnet, then I either did something wrong, or I got a short spool. Nancy, are you using 2 strands on the purple you subbed for the letters? I haven't looked to see if the Vintage colors come in shorter lengths than a non-vintage color...?
ndmurdock wrote on Oct 6, '08
I am using the Petite Treasure braid and couldn't use 2 ply of it if I tried!
ndmurdock wrote on Oct 6, '08
My purple braid is more sparklie than your garnet. But I do like the look of it when I zoom in on it!
fireinthelab wrote on Oct 6, '08
Looks great! Stinks that you had to order a lone skein. Shipping prices drive me nuts. I think you should have to pay for actualy shipping prices not some random amount based on purchase price.
bronxchick55 wrote on Oct 6, '08
She's so pretty.

I've decided I'm not starting mine until after the new PTP fabrics come out in February.. so talk about really throwing off the Marketing gurus.. Halloween at Valentines? lol

Halloween at Valentines? lol
Oh dear - my goth side is coming out again - I'd love to stitch a goth Valentine's chart - black roses and all .....
rifestitch wrote on Oct 8, '08
Actually, that would be about the only kind of Valentine Fairy I'd stitch, too - no pinks :) My god, what am I saying??? It almost sounded like I'd stitch another fairy... oh, what have I become?
fireinthelab wrote on Oct 8, '08
Welcome to fairy land
natmikesell wrote on Oct 8, '08
I love this one too but have to wait until February as well. I KNOW it will be worth the wait :)
twana wrote on Oct 8, '08
This looks so much nicer on the fabric you chose. Hope the braid gets there quickly!
kovibobi wrote on Oct 10, '08

ndmurdock wrote on Oct 20, '08
Now that the dress is done, the rest goes pretty fast! Looks great! Wish there was 2 of the frame I found, I would have gotten it for you. It was all alone and NO others that looked like it, it was probably a fluke I found it.
gothtigger wrote on Oct 20, '08
She's still looking soooo lovely !!!!!
clearstar wrote on Oct 21, '08
Love it! Looks better each time.
fireinthelab wrote on Oct 28, '08
She is geting close! Well done!
ndmurdock wrote on Oct 28, '08
just a little more pumpkin and the cobwebs!! Don't pressure yourself, Halloween comes around every year, last I knew.
rifestitch wrote on Oct 28, '08
I also want to look for a teeny tiny spider charm while I'm at Hobby Lobby - that complete web on the pumpkin needs a resident weaver :)
clearstar wrote on Oct 28, '08
Looking super Karen!
stitchingaunt wrote on Oct 28, '08
You are so close to being done.. She's looking good.
lindalovestostitch wrote on Oct 28, '08

rifestitch wrote on Nov 6, '08
Still wish I'd found a tiny spider charm to add to the webs....
clonnen wrote on Nov 6, '08
Your project looks great! I love the beads on it and the way you took that last picture. Really neat :-)
natmikesell wrote on Nov 6, '08
Beautiful finish, Karen! I have never seen a spider charm, but you are right, it would go perfect :)
gothtigger wrote on Nov 6, '08
Ooooh nice perspective - brings out the sparkle in the metallics too!
clearstar wrote on Nov 6, '08
That really does show off the sparklies.

BTW, somewhere like Fire Mountain or an ebay seller is bound to have a spider charm!
ndmurdock wrote on Nov 6, '08
Ok, .... stop enabling WHERE to get one........there is a birthday coming up......geez, it's really hard to keep things secret in this group! I give up.
clearstar wrote on Nov 6, '08

PMSL !!!!! Oh you alll keep me sooo amused - I love my friends!
heypaula wrote on Nov 7, '08

rifestitch wrote on Nov 12, '08
BTW, the barely-mentioned spider charm arrived today - thank you very much, he's so cute!! Well, for a spider, that is :) I have already gotten him sewn on - see the last 2 pictures I added!!

Now, to get her in her frame! Sounds like a weekend job to me....
stitchingqueen wrote on Nov 12, '08
That is so cool! That charm is fantastic!
ndmurdock wrote on Nov 12, '08
I haven't put mine on yet. Before I saw where you put yours, I was thinking about the larger web on the left. Now I'll need to play with it. Glad you liked it! I am sure the spider wasn't a surprise!!
gothtigger wrote on Nov 12, '08
Its perfect !!!!!!
monnee9798 wrote on Nov 12, '08
That spider adds just the right touch! It looks great on there, as much as I don't like spiders. ;)
heypaula wrote on Nov 13, '08
Gret charm, and I think you got the positioning just right...

It's very popular - my only suggestion is to haunt ebay and look for either the magazine (details above), or the pages.
